The design solution included custom designed floor-to-ceiling cabinets 10 feet tall to house and organize all of their toys, crafts, games, etc., open shelving to display sculptures and their Mr. Potato Head dolls, a custom-designed and handpainted mural with magnetic paint, a gorgeous and comfortable rug, wall color that makes the room more comfortable, beautiful marble knobs for the cabinet doors, flower hooks for the hanging artwork lines, and a large sleek table that was selected to specifically fit in with the cabinetry. I designed a table top built-in to the cabinetry that allows for paints, crafts, etc. to sit on the surface for easy access without taking up table space.
Everything turned out really nicely. I hope you enjoy the photos!
BEFORE SHOTS
AFTER SHOTS
View of the magnetic mural wall. The mom wanted the space to feel like school but fun. So, the magnetic wall area is within the borders to make them feel like boards. The bottom area is specifically for the eight year old because that is within her reach when she is in her low-to-the-ground purple chair.
I also designed a small cart for the six year old to play restaurant. She can put her cash register on the top and store all of the food inside and it rolls! It is shown in this photo in the hot pink to go nicely with their light pink kitchen set that will go in front of the windows. They were too heavy for me to move!
The girls each have a hanging fabric calendar that are shown hung on two flower hooks. The artwork line has some of the artwork their mother left me while they were away on vacation while all of this was being installed.
The cabinets are very simple with flat door panels and knobs that are large kids marbles. The simplicity of the cabinets makes these incredibly large cabinets seem like they are just the right size for the space.
All of the toys, papers, supplies, crafts, etc. put away.
All of the games and large toys put away. Two more shelves can be added to the top of the cabinet if they need them.
The beautiful rug.
The marble door knobs. They turned out really cute!
